IAPD Legal Symposium – Thursday, November 9, 2017
The IAPD Legal Symposium, held annually in the fall, offers information and key strategies to effectively deal with legal and legislative issues that agencies face in their local operation. Legal professionals associated with the field present topics and solutions.
Commissioner Seminars/Boot Camp
The Commissioner Seminars are valuable training programs conducted by IAPD. Seminars are offered in odd-numbered years to benefit the newly-elected board members who are beginning to learn their roles
and responsibilities. These seminars focus on hot topics that are designed to assist board members in their roles as locally elected officials. These seminars meet the Open Meetings Act training requirements for local officials.

Wednesday, May 24 – Metro East Park & Recreation District (6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.) Thursday, May 25 – Normal Parks & Recreation Department (6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.) Wednesday, May 31 – Bolingbrook Park District (6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)

The IAPD Leadership Institute
IAPD offers this premier educational series in even-numbered years to assist board members in fostering leadership skills, boardmanship and volunteer service. The principles offered in this educational series help
board members to achieve excellence in their roles and master personal and professional leadership skills.
Workshops and Webinars
Educational workshops and webinars are often organized by the IAPD throughout the year to address current issues and trends.
